healthcare challenges today’s decision-makers with unprecedented complex
demands. Patients with unmet medical needs require novel therapies while payors require cost-efficiency. Physicians are required
to make potentially life-and-death decisions while being ever mindful of
malpractice suits. Today’s hospitals and medical centers are redefining
the nature of modern healthcare. Legislators, regulators, and policy-makers
strive to balance expedient, equal access to standards of care while
safeguarding intellectual property to promote risk-taking R&D. Ethical
considerations, from corporate scandals to stem-cell research, also underlie
these challenges. Such challenges necessitate innovative, disciplined, and
collaborative problem-solving. Opportunities abound amidst these challenges
for unprecedented solutions and relationship-building in healthcare. The Healthcare Business Georgetown MBA students
gain exposure to the healthcare industry from case work in finance,
marketing, operations, and strategy.
Healthcare courses specifically designed to hone skill sets and
industry knowledge are offered, such as American
Healthcare Marketplace and Healthcare Consulting Practicum. In addition, students may attend healthcare

Alliance (HBA) is a student club encompassing all Georgetown MBA students who
seek careers in the healthcare sector.
The HBA seeks to develop Georgetown MBAs into well-informed,
well-trained, and well-connected leaders at the forefront of global
healthcare management. The organization values collaboration, innovation,
discipline, and dedication. These values underscore the club’s
expectations and decisions as students elevate healthcare discourse between
healthcare professionals, Georgetown MBAs, and faculty. The organization’s
membership comprises physicians, consultants, strategists, product managers,
analysts, health IT and benefits professionals. HBA members have interests in marketing,
business development, hospital administration, healthcare economics,
